Ms. Sonia Headley Griffith

Ms. Sonia Headley Griffith is the Head of the Human Resources Unit in the UNDP Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, having served functionally as Human Resources Associate in this capacity since 2008. She has formal training in Administrative Law, Human Resource Management, Administrative and Secretarial Studies and Communication skills. Collectively, she has thirty eight (38) years of experience within the United Nations System in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, which covers General Administration, Staff Training and Development and Human Resources Management, including Recruitment and Benefits Management.

Ms. Headley Griffith has worked with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in several capacities including as Fellowship Officer working extensively with Ministries of Health, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and learning institutions within the region and internationally, to facilitate the training of allied health workers and medical students. She also served as Secretary to the then Programme Officer for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. She worked as Administrative Assistant to Programme areas such as Health Systems and Services, Chronic Non-communicable Diseases, Health Education and Health Promotion, Human Resource Development, during which time she managed several high level conferences and workshops regionally and internationally. She also served there as the Human Resources Officer prior to joining UNDP.

During her tenure at PAHO/WHO, she served on the Executive Committee of the PAHO/WHO Staff Association as Secretary and as Vice President, representing staff/management relations at Council Meetings in Washington DC and further afield.

Prior to joining the UN System, Ms. Headley Griffith worked in the private sector in Banking and in Advertising.
