Presentation of Credentials to Government of Anguilla

UNDP Resident Representative Magdy Martinez Soliman presents Letters of Credence to The Hon. Victor F. Banks, Premier of Anguilla


On 9 December, UNDP Resident Representative presented his Letters of Credence to The Hon. Victor F. Banks while traveling for the first time since his appointment on official mission to Anguilla. The Premier thanked UNDP for its partnership and expressed hopes for a renewed impetus in the collaboration. Mr. Banks expressed his confidence in a very good touristic season that would push the economy upwards. Mr. Martinez Soliman thanked the Premier for the collaboration of his Cabinet, in particular key Ministries like Home Affairs, Immigration, Labour and Education, with whom UNDP intends to widen existing cooperation, especially in issues related to jobs in the Blue Economy.

The audience with the Premier was followed by a courtesy call with His Excellency the Governor of Anguilla, Mr. Tom Foy, OBE. The Governor and the RR exchanged on Governance and Economic Development issues that are important for the island’s future growth and prosperity. The visit continued with meetings with the Cabinet, bilateral encounters with the Minister Home Affairs, Immigration, Labour, Education, Library, Information and Broadcasting, The Honourable Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, and with leaders of the Anguillan Civil Society. The UNDP RR was accompanied by Mr. Ugo Blanco, Deputy Resident Representative. Both Officials committed to a second visit after the summer of next year, immediately after the upcoming 2020 elections.
