Human Resources

The Human Resources Associate provides leadership in the execution of the full range of Human Resources services, ensuring transparency and integrity. This staff member promotes a collaborative, client-oriented approach and strives to maintain high staff morale. The Human Resources Unit also assists in the overall management of administrative services.

Work is carried out in close collaboration with the Operations, Programme and Project teams in the Country Office and UNDP Headquarters in New York for resolving complex Human Resources related issues and ensuring consistency in service delivery and exchange of information.

The UNDP Office for Barbados and the OECS has a staff complement of 28 persons, recruited under the following contractual modalities.

Contractual arrangements

The Human Resources Unit at the UNDP is also responsible for issuing UN Fixed Term contracts to the United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and United Nations office for Project Services (UNOPS).


MAIN AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

Administration of human resources including:

  • Recruiting and selecting staff and contractors
  • Classifying posts
  • Issuing and renewing contracts
  • Administering benefits, salaries in the global payroll for fixed term appointments
  • Assisting with UN related surveys – DSA
  • Maintaining leave records
  • Providing advice and information on corporate strategies, changes in rules and regulations
  • Implementing personnel rules
  • Coordinating and conducting the UN Language Proficiency examination
  • Validating cost recovery charges in ATLAS for HR services provided by the CO to other agencies
  • Applying entitlements

Administration services:

  • Procuring stationery and office supplies for the general use of the office
  • Organizing shipments and customs clearance for CO and international staff
  • Processing requests for visas, identifications cards for staff and dependants
  • Supervising the Driver
  • Supporting the updating of the Security Plan for the CO, recording staff movement and allocating zones
  • Maintaining and submitting staff list for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Maintaining and supporting records on assets management
  • Supporting administrative services in the CO
