Our Funding and Delivery

Where our money comes from and what we spend it on?

UNDP Barbados and the OECS serves ten (10) Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and receives funding from several sources. Contributions towards the administration are provided by UNDP Headquarters and the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC), along with the Government of Barbados which hosts the Sub-regional Office (SRO) and the OECS who individually make Government Local Office Contributions (GLOC) and voluntary contributions. Withn the programming, resources are obtained from donors whose interests are aligned with those of UNDP and the SRO, particularly in the areas of Sustainable Human Development and Inclusive Governance, Energy, Environment & Climate Change and Disaster Risk Resilience. Funding is raised through resource mobilization by Senior Management and Programme Managers using their various networks to tap into appropriate resources that are available.  In this way critical resources have been obtained from our many partners to support various initiatives.

The development challenges of the Sub-Region continue to increase despite the difficulties of dwindling donor funding and so, the SRO is committed to continuing its resource mobilization efforts using its delivery record and the relevance of interventions as a key selling point.
